LGM2013: Future Tools

The yearly Libre Graphics Meeting (LGM) gathers users and developers of Free, Libre and Open Source software for creative work. LGM is a self-organised event, put together by designers, artists, free culture activists and software developers because they want to make their Libre Graphics toolbox even better.

Collision 1: Badness and Conflict

Si on considère les objets typographiques et cartographiques comme “des arrangements spatiaux de textes et d’autres éléments grpahiques”, alors leur design est essentiellement un travail d’organisation de collisions. Dans une pratique de graphisme conventionnel, beaucoup de systèmes interviennent pour éviter des ‘accididents’. La tension est dégonflée grâce à l’effacement, la simplification et le filtering. Quelles pourraient être les façons d’articuler des collisions, au lieu de les éviter?

Als we typografische en cartografische objecten beschouwen als “ruimtelijke ordeningen van teksten en andere grafische elementen”, dan is het werk van een ontwerper het organiseren van botsingen. In een conventionele ontwerppraktijk zijn heel wat systemen aan het werk om zulke ‘ongelukken’ te voorkomen. Spanningen wordt weggenomen door elementen te wissen, te vereenvoudigen en te filteren. Wat zou een manier zijn om botsingen te articuleren, in plaats van ze te vermijden?
